Thiruvarur district DMK secretary Poondi Kalaivaanan was arrested in connection with a land grab case immediately after he was released from Palayamkottai Central Prison on Thursday.

After his arrest under the provisions of Goondas Act was quashed by the Madras High Court, Mr. Kalaivaanan was freed on Thursday morning from the prison.

However, a police team from Thiruvarur, comprising Thiruvarur Town Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendran, District Crime Branch Inspector Manavaalan, Sub-Inspector of Police, Anti-Land Grab Cell Arumugam, which was waiting at the prison arrested him again in a land grab case. In his complaint, Mr. Rafiq has reportedly alleged that Mr. Kalaivaanan and his associates, who forcibly encroached upon his land, threatened him of dire consequences when he resisted it.
