Police seek details about stay of foreigners in hotels, hospitals

November 30, 2013 12:24 pm | Updated 12:24 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

With the Immigration Visa and Foreigners Registration and Tracking System (IVFRT) having been implemented in Tiruchi, hotels, educational institutions, and hospitals were sensitised to informing the Foreigner Registration Office (FRO) online complete details of foreigners staying in their respective institution for better tracking of foreigners, strengthening the immigration system, and security.

Separate meetings were organised by the City Police and the Tiruchi district police in association with the National Informatics Centre and the Bureau of Immigration recently with representatives of these sectors during which IVFRT and its modules were put across to the participants.

The IVFRT is a Mission Mode Project (MMP) of the Ministry of Home Affairs implemented with the core objective of implementing a secure and integrated service delivery framework that facilitates legitimate travellers while strengthening security. The MMP links Indian missions abroad, immigration check-posts, Foreigner Regional Registration Offices, and 640 Foreigners Registration Offices across the country.

Statutory obligation

The participants were told that it was their statutory obligation to intimate the office of the FRO (Commissioner of Police in the case of city and Superintendent of Police in the case of district) regarding the arrival and stay of every foreigner in their respective establishment.

Representatives of hotels and hospitals accommodating foreigners were asked to obtain a user ID after registering with the respective FRO and upload online in the C-Form complete details regarding every overseas national staying in their respective establishment.

Educational institutions accommodating foreign students were asked to submit the details in the online S-Form, including details of the course pursued by every overseas student and their academic performance.

The URL (Uniform Resource Locator) for submission of C-Form and S-Form were made known to the participants, the officials said.
