Police crack murder cases; gang arrested

A day after two persons were murdered in the city, a special police team arrested an auto driver and three of his associates here on Tuesday on the charge of committing the crimes. Those arrested were Vadivel (28), the auto driver, G. Jesudas (28), R. Prabhukannan (32) and M. Karthikeyan (20). The weapons used for committing the murders, an autorickshaw and a motorcycle were seized by the team.

A police press release said Vadivel and his associates at first killed S. Muthu (55) in K.K. Nagar area and later hacked to death C.Palanisamy (47), a financier, at Ponmalai. The release said Muthu and Vadivel had illegal relationship with a same woman and the former had chided the auto driver to snap the affair. This enraged Vadivel who along with his accomplices attacked Muthu causing his death.

The release further said Vadivel killed financier Palanisamy after the latter repeatedly asked the auto driver to repay the loan amount taken by him for purchasing an autorickshaw. Vadivel and his associates called Palanisamy to Ponmalai and hacked him to death.
