Plus two practical exams commenced at 80 centres in the district on Monday for the first batch of students. For the next batch, the practical exams will take place in a similar number of centres, official sources said.
About 19,675 students are taking up the practical examination in two batches. External invigilators have been appointed at the rate of one for a batch of 100 students. In centres where the numbers of students exceed 150, two external invigilators have been posted.
The Chief Educational Officer K. Selvakumar visited some of the centres. There was no problem of power supply, official sources added.
This year, the school education department has decided to distribute hall tickets only towards the end of the month. Having observed a high degree of absenteeism among students till last year when they received the hall tickets before the practical exams, the department thought it fit this year to ensure the attendance of students for 10 working days till the commencement of the theory exams.
On its part, the school education department has already handed over the CD pertaining to hall tickets to all schools. The decision to delay distribution of hall tickets has been received very well by the headmasters, Mr. Selvakumar said.
