Participatory lesson on respecting womanhood

October 05, 2010 09:22 pm | Updated 09:22 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

Family can be a strong institution only if all members, especially women, are respected equally.

It is the duty of a man to put his wife, who enters his life leaving behind her parents and siblings, in comfort zone if the institution of family has to succeed. This idea propagated by Swami Vethathiri Maharishi got reflected in ample measure on Sunday during the ‘Wife Day' celebration at the Temple of Consciousness in Kattur. A total of 150 couples right from their early forties to late sixties converged at the Temple of Consciousness to prove their unflinching support to the institution of family.

With garlands around their necks, the men and women demonstrated their gentle feelings towards each other by exchanging flowers and fruits. S. Jayaprakash, Secretary, Manavalakalai Trust, addressed the gathering and Mala Jayaprakash, Trust Treasurer, administered the oath to the couples to respect each other on an even keel.

Having come out from the mother's womb, the thought of respecting women ought to be in the blood of men, Ms. Mala emphasised. The event organised by the ManavalaKalai Trust also marked the 100th year anniversary of Swami Vethathiri Maharishi .
