Unique and eye-catching paintings of artists of the State have been displayed at an exclusive exhibition of paintings organised by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited at its Poompuhar showroom in the city.

On display at the exhibition are collection of Thanjavur paintings, replicas of Ravi Varma paintings, glass paintings, gemstone paintings, velvet paintings, canvas paintings, kalamkari paintings, batic paintings, deco paintings, marble paintings, paintings on brasswares and papier mache.

Other than the paintings, bronze icons, wood carvings, brass lamps, Thanjavur art plates, terracotta, rosewood furniture, rosewood and teakwood pooja mandapam, wooden articles, jute products, seashells, ruthraksham, batik, Thanjavur garlands, thombai, Madurai sungadi, handloom sarees, bedspreads, artificial jewellery, fetched from across the country are also on display.

A press release of the Poompuhar showroom issued here said that it has been planned to achieve a sales target of Rs.5 lakh from this exhibition.

The showroom will accept all the credit and debit cards without any service charges for purchases made at the expo.

Arts and crafts lovers of the district will be lending a helping hand to artistes and supporting craftspersons by making purchases at the exhibition, the release added.

Revathi Muthusamy, Kalaimamani awardee and director, Srirangam Bharathanatyalaya declared the exhibition titled ‘Painting’ open. The expo will go on till July 17.
