Secretaries of the loss making primary agricultural co-operative banks (PACBs) should take effective steps to bring the PACBs out of red by next year, said K.Shanmugam, Principal Secretary, Food, Cooperation and Consumer Protection Deparetment, here on Monday.
Reviewing the performance of the PACBs under the control of the Tiruchi District Central Co-operative Bank (TDCCB), Mr Shanmugam said that the PACBs were providing crop and other loans to the farmers and pointed out that the secretaries should work effectively and run the PACBs without incurring loss.
The Principal Secretary urged the secretaries of the PACBs to be vigilant and careful while providing the power tillers, tractors, harvesters and other equipment for hire to the farmers. He said that the Special Officer of the District Central Co-operative Bank should frequently review the performance of each PACB and also inspect the PACBs and instruct the officials to run the PACBs profitably.
Rama Jayampandian, Regional Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Tiruchi, R.Brindha, Special Officer of Tiruchi District Central Co-operative Bank, and several officials attended the meeting.
