Overcast sky gives a breather to Tiruchi

The overcast skyline came as a pleasant surprise for the people of central region who were bracing up for the heat waves on Sunday — the first day of agni nakshatram. Widespread rainfall over the last couple of days across Thanjavur, Perambalur, Pudukottai, and Ariyalur districts gave the people a much-needed reprieve from the sweltering heat.

Agni nakshatram days are normally the hottest days of the summer months. But this year, there is a marked difference, with the mercury level registering a dip. Weather was relatively mellowed even on Saturday. A large number of people visited the Cauvery Bridge in the city to enjoy the cool evening breeze.

Parts of Nagapattinam, Karur and Ariyalur districts experienced drizzles for sometime in the evening.
