District-level sports meet for differently abled persons underway in Tiruchi.

Over 450 students from 19 special schools took part in the district-level sports meet for differently abled persons held here recently.

Collector inaugurates

Collector Jayashree Muralidharan inaugurated the meet that was organised by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tiruchi.

Competitions for the orthopedically challenged included, wheelchair race, and mini basketball throw, while for the visually challenged the contests included, standing long jump, and tennis ball throw.

Mentally-challenged persons competed in events including 50 metre, 100 metre races, and cricket ball throw.

For the hearing impaired, the competitions included 100 metre, 200 metre races, and javelin throw. Prizes were given to the winners.
