The Dakshin Railway Employees Union (DREU) has demanded a re-enquiry into allegations of sexual harassment levelled against a Senior Section Engineer, Permanent Way, of Tiruchi Division by 18 women railway employees involved in track maintenance at Mayiladuthurai.

Dissatisfied with the findings of the internal complaints committee, headed by the Divisional Personnel Officer, at the Tiruchi railway divisional level, DREU demanded that the re-inquiry be done at the Zonal level.Senior Section Engineer, R. Manivannan, who is also the divisional president of the Southern Railway Mazdoor Union, had been transferred to Pattukottai on administrative grounds, the sources added.

The 18 women employees, who filed the complaint, were also transferred to different sections in Tiruchi division, said the DREU zonal deputy general secretary, D. Manoharan, who led a demonstration here.
