He urges voters to shun the AIADMK and the DMK

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have ruined the State and voters should shun both the parties in the Lok Sabha election, said Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijaykanth here on Sunday.

The industry, agriculture, and other sectors in the State were in doldrums. Many of the ancillary units of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited in Tiruchi had closed down for want of power and other problems.

Price rise could have been controlled if corruption was checked. “Only a good leader could provide a corruption-free government,” he said urging voters to support Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Accusing the two Dravidian parties of failing to deliver on their promises, Mr. Vijaykanth said there would have been no need for him to enter politics if they had provided good governance and solved people’s problems. “I have been pleading with them over the past nine years to provide jobs to youths and address people’s problems. But they have not bothered,” he said campaigning in support of the party candidate for the Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency A.M.G. Vijaykumar here.

Citing the unresolved case of murder of K.N. Ramajayam, brother of the former DMK Minister K.N. Nehru, he said the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu had turned bad. “It is the duty of the police to bring the culprits to the book. But the police have not been able to do so, raising a question mark over their capabilities and creating fear among the people,” he said. Murders and robbery were on the rise and cases of sexual assault, even by police records, had increased in the State, he alleged.

He sought to dismiss the charge that he had aligned with communal forces. “They raise the communalism issue only at the time of election. Why did the AIADMK align with the BJP earlier? It was the AIADMK which brought down the A.B. Vajpayee government. Do they want to bring down more governments?” he wondered urging people to accept Mr. Modi’s leadership without any apprehension.
