Forty four new Direct Procurement Centres (DPCs) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) have been opened in Tiruvarur district for procurement of kuruvai paddy.
These DPCs started functioning from Monday, September 23. These are in addition to 16 DPCs already functioning in the district said a release here by S. Natarajan, District Collector, on Tuesday.
The new DPCs are the ones at Thappalam, Puliyur, and Vadakarai villages in Tiruvarur taluk, Karkathi, Mottathur, Velankudi and Maruduvanchery in Nannilam taluk, Karuvakurichi, Paravakottai, Thenparai, Thirumakottai, Siddamalli, Serumagalam, Mahadevapattinam, Peraiyur, Edakeeaiyur, Moovarkottai, Vadakaravayal, Edakeelaiyur, Edavannavasal, Mooranallur and Ullikottai in Mannargudi taluk, Kottaiyur, Therupattam, Oothukadu, Aavur, Valangaiman in Valangaiman taluk, Kandiramanikkam, Vadaver, Paruthiyur, MANNr lia , Vadamattam, Kadampandur in Kodavasal taluk, Devangudi, Perambur, Nagar, Kaalacheri, Ayyampettai, Poovanatham, Munnavalkottai, Sonapettai, Kulapattu, Royapuram, Poovanur, Pullavarasu and Kudikadu in Needamangalam taluk.

43 centres in Nagapattinam
The expected Kuruvai procurement for the district this year has been placed at 1,46,050 tonnes as against the target of 1,25,000 tonnes, said Collector T. Munusamy who announced the opening up of 43 new DPCs in Nagapattinam district.
With the commencement of Kuruvai harvest, the administration has opened up new DPCs to expedite procurement of the harvested produce from the farmers. Under this, Rs.1,180 is being offered per quintal for fine variety, and Rs.1,130 per quintal for common variety.
