Hundreds of nurses from government hospitals in Tiruchi lit candles to collectively rededicate their services to patients on the occasion of International Nurses Day at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital here on Sunday.

Nurses’ pledge

The event marked the birth anniversary of “The lady with the lamp” Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in nursing. Nurses took out a short rally on the premises of the hospital before taking the Nurses’ Pledge.

Leelavathi, secretary, Tamil Nadu Government Nurses Association, exhorted nurses to be efficient, kind, and sincere in taking care of the sick and to ensure that health issues of the patients were kept confidential.
