The nominations of eight candidates for the Tiruchi West Assembly constituency were rejected upon scrutiny here on Tuesday. The nominations of the candidates were taken up for scrutiny by K.Sampath, Returning Officer of the constituency, in the presence of R.K.Pathak, Observer.
The nominations of five Independents, S.K.Manoharan, A.Mohamed Abid Sultan, S.Mohamed Anwardeen, Srinivasan and Raghupathy, were rejected on various grounds of inadequacies.
The nominations of three dummy candidates V.Aruljothi of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, K.N.Sekaran of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Habeebur Rahman of Akila Indiya Uazhavar Uzhaipalar Katchi stood rejected automatically after the nominations of the parties main candidates were accepted, officials said.
The other 17 nominations, including those of M.Paranjothi, AIADMK, and K.N.Nehru, DMK, were accepted. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is September 29.
