Ninety one candidates have filed their nominations for the by-elections to be held for vacant positions in various local bodies in the district on July 22.
Nine nominations have been filed for the by-elections to one Corporation ward (no.28), five for three town panchayat wards, four for one panchayat union ward and nine for two village panchayat presidents. Sixty four nominations have been filed for 28 village panchayat wards. No nomination has been filed for ward 2 (ST-general) of Govindapuram panchayat in Thottiyam Panchayat Union.
