No steps taken to resolve power situation: Stalin

Jayalalithaa failed to keep her promise on power situation

March 23, 2014 01:57 pm | Updated May 19, 2016 10:52 am IST - KUMBAKONAM:

The power situation in the State has worsened in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regime, said M.K. Stalin, treasurer of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

He campaigned for Hyder Ali, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi candidate for Mayiladuthurai constituency here on Saturday.

Mr. Stalin said that AIADMK Government had not taken any steps to improve the power situation in the State. And the situation has gone from bad to worse in the recent past. Now people are reeling under longer durations of power shutdown, Mr. Stalin said. In contrast, during the DMK regime, the duration of load shedding was just two hours, he said.

“Though the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa assured that she will resolve the power problem within three months from coming to power, she has not kept her promise,” said Mr. Stalin.

The DMK regime ensured that farmers and students were not affected by the power shut down. But they are the worst hitnow, he said.

Mr. Stalin listed the development works taken up by Ko.Si. Mani, former minister, for Kumbakonam town.

The DMK rule did not hike the bus fare during its tenure indicating DMK’s pro-people approach, Mr. Stalin said.
