In order to make Mayanur barrage as a tourism destination spot for the people of Karur and Kulithalai, the State government has constructed a public park.

It has been named after former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Various tourism and kids friendly facilities and equipment such as fountain, children’s park, footpath, slides, swings, double swings, multi-play station, seesaw and others were established.

It has been constructed at a cost of ₹ 50 lakh by the District Rural Development Agency. Similarly, Aavin stall, purified drinking water, fine arts hall and toilets facilities have been made. Transport Minister Minister M.R. Vijayabaskar inaugurated the park in the presence of Collector K. Govindaraj.

Mr. Govindaraj said that the park would be a major picnic destination for the people of Karur and nearby areas. They could spend at least a day by relaxing with friends and relatives.
