New mall, a boon to shoppers, traders

There was a heavy flow of motorists, shoppers and pedestrians at the Teppakulam area adding to the woes of the already-congested Main Guard junction area. Old Goodshed Road in the area was overcrowded with a large number of four-wheelers and two-wheelers jostling in the stretch.

There was a traffic snarl but none seemed perturbed. In fact, most of them were marching ahead happily to witness an innovative trade centre.

The FSM Hyper Mall, inaugurated on Saturday, seemed to meet demands of all kinds of shoppers in the central districts in general and in the city in particular. Catering to the requirements of people of various economic status and different age groups, the mall may be ushering in a new trend in business in the city.

It offers whatever is your need: pure fragrance, pet care park, birthday presents, bi-cycle shop, sports items, opticals, mobile express, electronic goods, textiles and ready-mades, silk palace, super market, bakery, food court, fish spa, baby walker, baby beds, fun land and game zone, multi-brand pens and watches…

Therefore, the mall is bound to be a boon to not only consumers and but traders also. Traders have utilised their expertise in their respective business. “I have a profound experience in marketing fragrance materials. I can supply perfumes made in Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai,” says Sheik Abdullah, whose shop is located on the ground floor. Every fragrant material is unique in its character and property, he says. “Arabic sambirani (Bakhoor) is one of the important fragrant materials available here,” he says.

The mall quenches the thirst for shopping prevailing among the people in this region irrespective of economic divide.

“We have never been exposed to such malls though we have heard enough about it from friends in other parts of the country,” say a group of students who visited the mall for about two hours. Each of them found specific unit catering to his or her demand.
