IG A. Amalraj who assumed charge as the Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi

Inspector General of Police A. Amalraj assumed charge as the Commissioner of Police here on Monday. He succeeds IG A. Arun who has been transferred and posted at Chennai.

A 1996-batch IPS officer, Dr. Amalraj served as Superintendent of Police in Dharmapuri, Theni, Kanchipuram and Villupuram districts.

Upon getting promoted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dr. Amalraj served in Ramanathapuram, Tiruchi and Salem ranges. He had also served as Commissioner of Police, Salem. Prior to being transferred to Tiruchi, IG Amalraj was the Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore for two years.
