S. Karunakaran, General Manager (SSTP, Modernisation and Civil), BHEL, Tiruchi, assumed charge as chairman of the Tiruchi chapter of Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) for the year 2010-11, here recently.
A. V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi, will be the patron of the chapter.
P. Nainar, General Manager (HR), R. Easwaran, AGM and S. Suresh, AGM (Labs and WRI), all of BHEL, took over as the vice-chairmen of the chapter. N. Rajasekaran assumed charge as secretary, Raman Sankaranarayanan of NIT-T, John Berchmans of CECRI, Karaikudi and K. Radhakrishnan as joint secretaries, G. Rajendran as treasurer, and A. Meyyappan as joint treasurer. Addressing the new team, Mr. arunakaran said holding of the TMAQ – the quiz on metals and materials by August 2010, CROME 2011 in February 2011, courses on basic metallurgy and heat treatment are the major tasks to be accomplished during the year.
The chapter will be conducting an international workshop this year, he added.
