NCC Deputy Director General visits Tiruchi

The Deputy Director General NCC Directorate–Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar–Commodore K.S.Aiyappa visited the NCC Group Headquarters and the five units falling under the Tiruchi Group here on Monday and interacted with the Commanding Officers.

Commodore Aiyappa, on his maiden visit to Tiruchi, was given a guard of honour by NCC cadets when he arrived at the NCC Group Headquarters here. A detailed presentation on the Tiruchi Group and its various activities was made by the NCC Group Commander Colonel Ved Nayagam. The state of training; key result areas; state of equipment, clothing and vehicles; number of camps conducted and those proposed this year; achievements of Tiruchi Group; cadets from the Tiruchi Group selected for All India NCC camps during the last two years; medals and trophies won by the Group and social service activities carried out were highlighted during the two-hour presentation.

Accompanied by Colonel Ved Nayagam and other officers, Commodore Aiyappa went around the Group Headquarters and the NCC canteen. He later visited the 2 TN Armoured Squadron, 3 TN Company Technical Company, 3 TN Air Squadron (Tech), 4 TN Girls Battalion and 2 TN Battalion in the city. He also inspected the mess meant for Non Commissioned Officers at Crawford here.

On a three-day visit to the Tiruchi Group, Commodore Aiyappa will inspect the NCC camp training centre that is coming up on Bharathidasan University's main campus here on Tuesday. He will also visit the NCC units at Karaikudi, Dindigul, Thanjavur and Kumbakonam before winding up his tour on Wednesday.
