Continuing the sensitisation measures to maximise polling in the May 16 Assembly election, district officials on Saturday organised a motorcycle rally in the city.

About 100 persons, with the pillion riders carrying placards highlighting the need for voters to exercise their franchise and ethical voting, participated in the rally. The Election Observer for Tiruchi West and Tiruchi East constituencies, Jawed Akhtar, flagged off the rally near the Collector’s office in the presence of K.S. Palanisamy, Collector; Sanjay Mathur, City Police Commissioner; and Nisha Parthiban, Superintendent of Police. The rally wound its way through the Central Bus Stand, Railway Junction, Puthur, Thennur, Thillai Nagar, Chathram Bus Stand, Thiruvanaikovil, and Nochiyam before culminating at the Manachanallur Taluk Office.
