Month-long traffic awareness campaign from tomorrow

Ahead of the month-long traffic awareness campaigns to be conducted here involving students, the city police organised a one-day master training programme for NSS volunteers and NCC cadets of various city colleges here on Tuesday.

The importance of adherence to road rules, safe driving, dangers of flouting traffic rules, ways to prevent accidents, importance of helmet riding, and dangers of rash driving and lane jumping were driven home to the participating students. The city police has identified 10 spots here to carry out the campaigns slated to begin from August 29.

The Commissioner of Police, Shailesh Kumar Yadav, released a traffic manual brought out by the city police for the students on the occasion.

L.Ganesan, NSS coordinator, Bharathidasan University, Abhinav Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), E.Ramganesh, Registrar, Bharathidasan University, and traffic police and transport department officials participated.
