Not wanting to wait till his office at Tiruverumbur, here, was opened, S. Senthil Kumar, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) MLA, representing Tiruverambur Assembly constituency, received petitions from the public in an open place in front of the MLA office on Tuesday.
The MLA office at Tiruverumbur was locked after Mr. Senthil Kumar was suspended along with five other party MLAs in March from the Assembly for a period of six months for their involvement in the attack on Radhapuram MLA S. Michael Rayappan in early February. The suspension came following a recommendation from the Committee of Privileges.
Although the quantum of punishment handed down to him ended on September 24, the MLA office remained locked.
Mr. Senthil Kumar said he spoke to his party leader and decided to accept petitions from the public in an open place.
As Mr. Senthil Kumar started accepting petitions from the public, revenue officials came to the spot and opened the MLA office.
