Transport Minister K.N.Nehru on Saturday inspected the site at Lalgudi in Tiruchi district where a railway over-bridge would be constructed at a cost of Rs.20.40 crore. He was accompanied by Collector T.Soundiah and a team of experts led by C.Natarajan, Professor (Civil Engineering), National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi.

The Minister said that the railway over-bridge would be constructed without causing any inconvenience to the people, merchants and traders. He also pointed out that a meeting was convened by Highways Minister Vellakoil M.P.Saminathan at the new Secretariat building in Chennai on Friday to discuss about the construction of the over-bridge which was attended by him, Forest Minister N.Selvaraj, Highways department secretary G.Santhanam and Tiruchi Collector T.Soundiah.

Mr Nehru said that the construction of the over-bridge and approach roads would commence only after getting a report from the expert committee and pointed out that he had also told the expert committee to submit its report at the earliest.

The Minister also convened a meeting at the taluk office in Lalgudi on Saturday and interacted with the people, merchants and traders and sought their opinion.

Lalgudi MLA A.Soundarapandian, Highways Divisional Engineers Ambedkar and Balasubramaniam, Revenue Divisional Officer M.Thangavel, Tahsildar Balaji and others were present at the meeting.
