The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit and the Bharathidasan University organised a mini-marathon in the city on Wednesday as part of International Youth Day.

Collector K.Rajamani, who inaugurated the run, said the 2017 theme of International Youth Day, observed on August 12, was “Youth Building Peace” and called upon youngsters to strive to usher in a world free of AIDS.

The Collector also highlighted the various measures taken by the government to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The mini-marathon started at Uzhavar Sandhai grounds at Anna Nagar and culminated at Anna Stadium. G.Anitha, Dean (in-charge), Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Samshad Begum, Joint Director/District AIDS Control Officer, and other officials participated.
