Mini marathon in Trichy marks Patel’s death anniversary

A large number of college students, young children, and the general public participated in the ‘Run for Unity’, a mini marathon, conducted to mark the death anniversary of Vallabhbhai Patel, first home minister of free India, in the city on Sunday.

The run was organised by the Run for Unity team in Tiruchi, and was flagged off by R. Ramasubbu, associate editor, Dinamalar, at Uzhavar Santhai ground. NCC students took the lead in the marathon with the National Flag at the front.

The participants went via Shastri road and Chatram bus stand, and concluded at Anna statue near Chatram bus stand. The objective was to observe the 63 death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and commemorate his role in unifying and integrating India.
