Collector T. Soundiah has cautioned members of self-help groups against approaching private persons for obtaining bank loans or other economic assistance.

In a press release, Mr. Soundiah said complaints were being received that some unscrupulous elements were cheating SHG members on the promise of getting bank loans or government subsidy. No private agency or individual has been authorised to carry out such work.

Self-help groups have been advised to directly approach bank. For getting revolving funds and economic credit with subsidy they should approach the block development officers concerned, recognised voluntary organisations or the Project Officer of the Mahalir Thittam at the Collector's Office.
