Officials of Department of Drugs Control seized about Rs. 32 lakh worth of medicine from a wholesale stockist for storing drugs in a godown without licence, here on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of officials led by K. Chandrasekaran, Assistant Director of Drugs Control, visited the stockist, Solaimalai Enterprise, near TVS Tollgate and seized the stocks as the godown did not have a licence for storing drugs.

About 130 cases of Vicks Action 500 Extra tablets worth Rs. 32 lakh were seized.

Mr. Chandrasekaran said legal action was being initiated against the stockist under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940.
