Marriage of three minor girls have been stopped by district administration officials following information to them on Tuesday.

The rescued minors aged 16 and 14 whose marriages were to have taken place on Wednesday and Thursday are now under the care and protection of the Child Welfare Committee.

Official sources said the action followed information Childline received about the marriage of a minor girl residing at Poomalaipuram near Musiri.

Upon information given by the rescued girl regarding the marriage of her friend, the team proceeded to a village near Thottiyam and rescued her.

As for the third incident, advocate Jayanthi Ranee, a former member of Child Welfare Committee, acted on information to rescue a girl at her residence in Somarasampet with the help of police and social welfare department officials.
