Man gets life for murdering neighbour

The Principal District and Sessions Court here on Wednesday convicted and sentenced D. Arivazhagan (33) to undergo life imprisonment for murdering his neighbour P. Marappan (59) at Woraiyur area here in November 2012.

The Judge, P. Velmurugan, also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000 on the convict.

Peeping Tom

According to the prosecution, Marappan had warned Arivazhagan of going to the police if the latter continued with his alleged habit of looking into Arivazhagan’s house while his daughters were taking bath and washing clothes.

Irked over this, Arivazhagan stabbed Marappan when the latter came out of his house to drop his grandchild to school.

Marappan was declared brought dead at a private hospital following which the Woraiyur police registered a case of murder.

The locals caught Arivazhagan and handed him over to Woraiyur police who arrested him. The charge-sheet was filed in February this year.
