Cautioning people of Tamil Nadu on the attempts made by a few vested interest groups to create negative mindset among them, Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan said that the State should not be allowed to derail from the growth path.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of additional buildings at Santhanam Vidyalaya here on Sunday, he said that attempts were being made to derail development by carrying out malicious propaganda against Central government schemes.

“It was unfortunate that some were vehemently opposing the schemes without analysing their merits and demerits. The people should be wary of the sinister motives. They should not give room for imbibing a negative mindset,” he said.

Calling upon the teachers to play a lead role in inculcating good values among the children Mr. Radhakrishnan said that educational institutions particularly schools should take concerted steps to inculcate the value of patriotism, country’s rich tradition, art, culture and heritage. The young minds should be shaped in their tender age so as to be the torch bearers of country’s rich value and tradition.

The schools should channelize the youngsters to travel on a right path.

The Minister said that the Central government had been introducing many schemes for women and child development.

The opportunities should be properly utilised.

Awareness must be created among the school children on government schemes.

K. Meena, former Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, in her presidential address said that the initiatives made under the digital India platform had immense potential to take the growth trajectory of the country to the next level. Setting up of an online laboratory for students to perform virtual experiments would enrich the knowledge of students studying in schools including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
