The Consul-General of Republic of South Korea Kyngsoo Kim was the chief guest at the Freshers Day at the Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatty near here, on Thursday.

Mr. Kim said India and South Korea were fast-developing countries with many similarities. People of both the nations had unending thirst for education and development. Peace-loving nature was another similarity. “Together we can enhance the global development through education, trade, and technology,” he said.

The world was eagerly waiting for India-South Korea relations to improve. Students must jump into this bandwagon of development and take advantage of it, Mr. Kim added.

V. K. Boominathan, former Head of the Department of Commerce, Bishop Heber College, spoke on the “relevance of human resources”.

A. Loganathan, Trustee of Chidambaram Pillai Women's College, was present.

M. Ponnambalam, chairman of the college, presided over the function.
