Loco hits goods carrier

The electric locomotive of Karaikudi-bound Pallavan Express from Chennai Egmore hit a mini goods carrier at an unmanned level crossing between Sendurai and Ottakoil near Ariyalur on Sunday night. The superfast express train suffered a delay of seven minutes in Vriddhachalam– Tiruchi chord line section. Sources said that the footboard of the electric locomotive got twisted.

Manikandan, a passenger seated in the footboard of the general compartment in the front side of the formation, sustained injury in his leg. He was offloaded at Ariyalur and taken to a nearby hospital.
