Litigants belonging to weaker sections of the society should take advantage of the free legal aid provided by the Legal Services Authority for getting justice, said E. Rajendrakannan, Sub-Judge and Chairman, Sankagiri Taluk Legal Services Committee.

The Legal Services Authority could nominate lawyers to fight the cases of underprivileged litigants even up to Supreme Court of India.

This facility has enabled the downtrodden in getting justice free of cost. It has also enabled all sections of the society in getting justice irrespective of their financial status, Mr. Rajendrakannan said at a legal awareness programme brought up by the Sankagiri Taluk Legal Services Committee at Akkammapettai on Friday.

V. Ravichandran, Sub-Judge and Secretary of the Salem District Legal Services Authority, D. Mohankumar, Judicial Magistrate I, Sankagiri, senior advocates, and others participated in the awareness programme. The people handed over about 30 petitions to the judicial officers on the occasion.
