A book brought out by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artistes Association, ‘Semmozhi Thamizhukku Seiyya Vendiyathu Ennae?' was released at a function organised by Association's branch at Karambakudi near here recently.
The book elaborates on the rich literary values of Tamil language; the responsibility of each and every individual in popularising these literature in the international arena.
Releasing the book, Rama. Ramanathan, district secretary of the association, said that learning Tamil language was a hassle-free process for the non-Tamils. On the other hand, it was too tough to learn a few foreign languages with a large number of alphabets.
The salient feature of Tamil language was that it accounted for a wide range of literary treasure of different periods and civilisations of the past.
Bernath Mary Susairaj, Chairperson of Karambakudi Panchayat Union, who received the first copy, highlighted the values contained in Tamil literature.
Rasi Pannerselvan, district deputy secretary of the association, said that the ‘Sangam' literature was symbolic of the ancient glory of Tamil language. Tamil Nadu had the distinction of having produced a total of 42 ancient literature, which, among other things, included ‘Pathu paattu', ‘Ettu Thogai'; ‘Seeva Sinthamani'; and ‘Silapathigaram'.
