Regional languages will no longer be a barrier for clearing the Union Public Service Commission’s civil services examination, said Pallavi Akurathi, Managing Director, Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Ltd.
Delivering a special lecture at the Tiruchi Academy for Competitive Examinations (TRACE) here on Saturday she said many candidates, who wrote civil services examinations, had successfully cleared the recent examinations.
A candidate, who wrote in Tamil, had also cleared the top exam in the country. It would boost the aspirations of a large number of candidates, who want to write in their regional languages.
However, Ms.Akurathi, a 2009-batch IAS officer, said that those who want to write in regional languages would have to work hard to master the subjects when compared to those writing in English. But the committed and dedicated candidates could successfully come up in flying colours.
Self belief, dedication, hard work, passion and commitment were the key elements of success. Besides the designed syllabus, the update knowledge about the current affairs was important for the aspiring candidates to clear the examinations. They should also be well versed with editorial columns in leading newspapers.
P. Sridharan, Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, said the civil services examinations had increasingly become tough due to tough competitions. However, high ambition and systematic preparations with pragmatic approach could certainly bring good results.
