Members of the All India Democratic Women's Association staged a demonstration here on Saturday condemning the lack of amenities and infrastructure at the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in the city.

The demonstration held near the Government Hospital at Puthur was led by the AIDWA city secretary M. Chitra. The AIDWA members urged the State Government to provide additional drinking water facilities and more water facilities for the toilets at the Government Hospital.

While seeking an increase in toilet facility in accordance with the number of inpatients, they demanded that the toilets should be cleaned every day. They also demanded increase in bed-strength along with provision of fans for the inpatients.

They also urged the State Government to increase the strength of doctors, nurses and sanitary workers at the hospital.

They also wanted the authorities to keep adequate stock of medicines at the hospital in order to save the lives of the patients. The demonstrators also demanded appointment of separate officers to monitor the works of cleaning of sewages; clearing garbage and spraying larvicides at all the 60 wards in Corporation limits.
