A press release from the Poompuhar issued on Thursday said that the people by patronising the exhibition would be lending a big helping hand to artistans and craftspersons.

Over 150 varieties of Lord Krishna dolls made of bronze, clay, marble, rosewood, stone, black metal, and Alighar brass, worth a few lakh are on display at the annual ‘Krishna Darshan’ exhibition organised by Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, which commenced at its Poompuhar showroom in the city on Thursday.

All varieties of Krishna idols were fetched from different parts of the country for this exhibition. The price started at Rs.45.

The corporation has provided an opportunity to the devotees of Lord Krishna who will celebrate the Krishna Jayanthi soon.

Bronze icons, wood carving, brass lamps, Thanjavur art plates, rosewood furniture, rosewood and teak wood pooja mandapam, wooden articles, jute products, sea shells, ruthraksham, Thanjavur garland, artificial jewellery, and agarbathis collected from the various production centres of the Poompuhar in different parts of the state are also on display.

The corporation has set up a sale target of Rs.7 lakh for this exhibition, which will continue till August 16. The Poompuhar will accept all credit and debit cards without any service charges.
