KMC opens hand injury and micro surgery unit

A 24-hour Hand Injury and Micro Surgery Unit was inaugurated at Kauvery Hospital, Cantonment, in the city on Monday.

The facility is a sub-unit of the plastic surgery department of the hospital and is headed by Dr. S. Skanda, consultant plastic surgeon.

The unit is equipped with operating microscopes, latest microsurgical instrumentation, and a specially trained team of staff.

The services include emergency treatment of bleeding of hands or foot wounds and repair of cut blood vessels and nerves, free tissue transfer, and all micro-surgical procedures, hand fracture and hand arthritis, nerve injuries, and hand abnormalities among others.

The unit offers post-operative hand rehabilitation and physiotherapy services, Dr. Skanda told presspersons here today.
