Karnataka police to exhume woman’s body

She died at Nithyananda’s ashram in Bidadi

January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:40 am IST - TIRUCHI:

A Karnataka police team is camping here to oversee the exhumation and re-post mortem of a body of a Tiruchi woman who died reportedly under mysterious circumstances at the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam near Bidadi recently.

The parents of A. Sangeetha (24), who was a ‘sanyasini’ at the ashram, suspected foul play in their daughter’s death and had petitioned the Ramanagaram Superintendent of Police recently seeking a thorough probe besides demanding exhumation of the body and a re-post mortem.

Sangeetha, who had been working in the ashram for four years, died a few days ago. While ashram authorities had claimed that Sangeetha died of cardiac arrest, her parents suspected foul play.

Upon completion of post mortem in Karnataka, the body was brought here and buried near Navalur Kuttapattu, in the city’s outskirts, where Sangeetha’s parents reside.
