Inspector's pistol goes off

The pistol belonging to a police inspector went off on Saturday night at Siruganur causing anxious moments.

Police sources here said Inspector Saravanan of Siruganur police station was displaying his service pistol, which was loaded, to his neighbour's children on the Ayudha pooja day when a bullet “accidentally” went off . The sound is said to have given some jitters to the locals and the matter was brought to the notice of the police authorities.

The Superintendent of Police, Ariyalur, Najmul Hoda, who is in-charge of Tiruchi district, inspected the spot and conducted enquiries. He said a case has been registered against the Inspector at Siruganur police station. A detailed inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
