The Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, S. Gopalakrishnan, on Saturday reviewed the implementation of e-Public Distribution System in the district.
Expressing satisfaction over the implementation of the system, under which operation of all ration shops have been computerised, Mr.Gopalakrishnan urged the officials to complete the remaining works too quickly.
He pointed out that all the 1,212 ration shops in the district have been computerised and Point of Sales devices have been installed in all the shops. Consumers are sent SMS to their registered mobile phones after every transaction.
Work on collecting the mobile phone numbers and Aadhaar card numbers of ration card holders, for issue of Smart Cards in future, was under progress, Mr.Gopalakrishnan said.
