‘Imperative for companies to motivate staff’

Companies should motivate their employees to scale new heights of growth, said Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, Indian Institute of Management-Tiruchirappali.

Inaugurating a two-day conference on entrepreneurship organised by the Young Indians (Yi) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) here on Thursday, he said motivation of employees had been a pressing concern for many managers and entrepreneurs.

It was important for them to find ways and means to motivate the employees.

It would ultimately increase productivity and have a positive cascading impact on all aspects of business, trade and industry.

Stating that success was a culmination of proper planning, execution, hard work, perseverance and commitment, Mr. Agnihotri said success would not come easily. Entrepreneurs would have to undergo difficult phases for achieving success. Not many had achieved success without difficulties.

However, they should never give up their aim and goal when facing tough period. Stressing the importance of quality, he said each and every firm or organisation should have quality policy, short and long term goals.
