The district-level monthly sports competition held at Anna Stadium here on Tuesday saw participants giving their best in their quest for glory.
The meet organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tiruchi, featured athletic events for men and women. It attracted nearly 200 persons. Ten events each in the men’s and women’s sections were conducted.
“A good number of students took part in the meet. The competition provided an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their talents,” said P. Kalaiselvan, District Sports Officer.
Ezhilvalavan of Tiruchi Police and R. Ranjitha of Imayam College, Thuraiyur, won a double each. Ezhilvalavan emerged winner in the shotput and discus throw events while Ranjitha won the 100 metres and high jump events.
A. Santhan, Regional Senior Manager, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tiruchi, gave away the prizes in the presence of N. Annavi, former international high jumper.
