A total of 288 men Recruit Police Constables (RPC) passed out successfully on Tuesday after completing five-month training at the Temporary Police Recruit School situated inside the Armed Reserve Ground in Subramaniapuram here.
An impressive passing out parade to mark the culmination of the training was held at the Armed Reserve ground during which the Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, K.C.Mahali, inspected the ceremonial march past and took the salute.
The RPCs were imparted training on various aspects including law, firing, yoga, karate, swimming and computer operations.
The new constables would now undergo month-long practical training at various police stations from July 7 to August 7.
Distributing medals to best RPCs, IG Mahali exhorted the new recruits to maintain discipline, they had learnt during the course of their training, through out their life.
The motto of the police personnel was to serve people; he said and urged the constables to bear this in mind while discharging duty. Human rights should be respected, he pointed out.
Challenges faced by police personnel had multiplied over the years, and the rigorous training the recruits had undergone had been tailor-made to enable them face the challenges with grit and discipline, he pointed out.
Appreciating the RPCs for their impressive parade, IG Mahali said that of the 1.74 lakh candidates who had applied for the position, as many as 9,000 had been selected across the State after being put through rigorous tests and exercises.
The Superintendent of Police and Principal of the Temporary Police Recruit School R.Lalitha Lakshmi called upon the new entrants to protect law and ensure a good name for the Tamil Nadu Police Force.
A passing out parade was held separately at the Permanent Police Recruit School situated inside the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) - I Battalion premises in the city in which 238 women RPCs successfully passed out after undergoing five months training.
Commissioner of Police E. Ma. Masanamuthu inspected the ceremonial parade and took the salute. He distributed medals to the best RPCs on the occasion. The Commandant, TSP-I Battalion and Principal of the Permanent Police Recruit School, C.Jeyabalan and senior police officers were present.
