Three metal icons unearthed

Construction workers unearthed three metal icons when digging ground for building a house at Vennavasal village near Nidamangalam in Tiruvarur district.

The workers employed by one Harikrishnan of the village stumbled on the icons Kalinga Narthana Krishnan, Perumal and Thayar along with some puja article on Saturday. Mr. Harikrishnan informed the Nidamangalam Tahsildar Gunaseeli and handed over the ancient icons to the officials.

The antiquity of the icons and the metal they were made of needed to be investigated, the officials said.
