Common utility

Banu, a resident of Anna Nagar, said that sanitary workers of the Tiruchirapalli City Corporation dumped the garbage collected from adjoining residential areas such as Venugopal Nagar, Tirunagar, V.S.Colony, and Sappanikoil areas in the ground. S.S.Rahmathulla, district secretary, Social Democratic Party of India, said that garbage was not cleared regularly in the area. The vacant site meant for common utility such as park and playground has turned into a dumping ground for sanitary workers, he said. M.Kumar, DMK councillor, said the civic body should immediately utilise the site for setting up a park or playground.

The ward has 112 streets and accounts for a population of 14,800. He said that sanitary workers, with their limited strength, cleared the garbage periodically.
