A new computer-aided tool for differently abled children developed by Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University K. Meena was released on Thursday by the Governor of Tamil Nadu K. Rosaiah at a function at Raj Bhavan, Chennai.

The tool is meant to serve as a learning guide for skill development and mathematical readiness for autistic and differently endowed children. The material is in two parts: the first containing modules imparting skills on reading, listening, communication, writing, and motivation, and the second dealing with scrap mathematics, basic mathematics, and advance mathematics. Handing over the first copy of the VCD to Saraswathi Palani, trustee of Bright School for Autism, Mogappair, the Governor said 2 per cent of the country’s population, including a sizeable section in rural areas, required technology support.
