The Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Association has urged the State government to set up working women’s hostels in all town panchayats and interior locations for women employees.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the State women’s conference held here on Saturday. Through another resolution, the association urged the government to set up crèches in all major offices. Rest rooms should be established.

Couples should be allowed to work in same place and transfers should not be made affecting the education of children.

Visaka Committees should be formed in all Collector’s Office to enquire into complaints of women employees. The State government should sanction two years child care leave for all women employees as in the case of Union government employees.

The State government should relax the qualifying age for widows to apply for government jobs. R. Tamizhselvi, state president of the women’s wing of the association, presided over the conference.

S. Tamizhselvi, State organiser, presented a report.
